Napping has been around even longer than humans. There may not be scientific evidence to prove it, but we could safely assume that even dinosaurs took naps.  So while napping could be studied on the historical viewpoint, I found a lot more articles from a sociological standpoint. When researching naps, a lot of the articles I found most interesting were about different studies and experiments that were done about napping. A lot of them were social experiments performed on people, where some knew of the experiment, and some didn't know.  https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4571043/ Because my thesis is more focused on the college students's relationship with sleep and napping, I generally stayed with articles with experiments involving them. But it was also interesting to read up on about different age groups as well. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/11/061101150526.htm Naps don't really have an interesting history or biologica

My final decision for my topic is naps and the sleeping habits of college students.                                              I started with social media since that is the most widely used platform in the world, especially by college students. On Instagram, the hashtag #naps  led me to a lot of videos of animals sleeping, and some posts about new parents and college students. One page,  @get.some.sleep  shares posts that promote including the right amount of sleep in a healthy lifestyle through their merchandise. Another page,  @getsomsleep  shares posts that promote its beverage, Som Sleep, which is supposed to help people "take their sleep to the next level". The focus from these sources seemed to be getting the most sleep and best sleep as possible. Instead of deciding over quantity versus quality, they were saying, "why not combine both?" Apparently, on Instagram, when the topic of sleep comes up, its usually that we don;t get enough of it.

I have lived in South Jersey my whole life and grew up with four siblings. I have two older brothers, an older sister, and a younger sister, and a dog named Maggie.    I am a Culinary Arts and Food Service Management major and I’m in my senior year.   Over the past few years I have worked at numerous restaurants and I currently work at the Starbucks on the Harborside campus. In high school I played three sports and haven’t joined a team at JWU, but I still am a fan of a few sports teams and follow a lot of different sports leagues. I usually spend my free time with my friends, or eating, or both.   Most of my research experience has come from doing work and projects for past classes. In high school I wrote a lot of history papers and did a lot of historical research for book we read in class. Any research that I did at my jobs were food related, usually looking up a different recipe or cooking technique. My freshman year at JWU, my English class had a few research papers wher
